Southwest Virginia Ballet
The pre-professional dancers of Southwest Virginia Ballet will warm the stage and brighten spirits with their Christmas medley. Audiences of all ages will be delighted with “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and popular excerpts from The Nutcracker including Sugar Plum, Arabian, Spanish, Chinese and the Harlequin and Columbine. Roanoke Children’s Theatre

Floyd Ward School of Dance
The Floyd Ward School of Dance will present a Christmas storyline during SunTrust’s Dickens of a Christmas. The Floyd Ward studio is a celebrated icon in the Roanoke Valley as it has been in operation for over 83 years. Classes in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, clogging, hip hop, lyrical, and tumbling are offered weekly at these locations. Performing on December 9th at 8:00pm
Roanoke Youth Symphony
Musicians representing the Roanoke Youth Symphony (RYS) will perform holiday selections in the Market Building on December 9th.
Dickens Street Acting Project
Featuring over 30 talented students from William Fleming High School will participate in this community-wide effort, directed by Mr. Larry Van Deventer, Theater Arts Director for William Fleming High School. Dressed in period costumes portraying characters from “A Christmas Carol,” the students will use their creative and acting skills to bring Dickens’ characters to life. Theatrical tours will be given throughout Dickens at the times listed below. All tours begin in East Market Square.

Roanoke Ballet
Roanoke Ballet Theatre, located in historic Grandin Village, will be performing excerpts from The Magic Toyshop on December 9th, 2010 at 9:00 pm on Market Street. “Long ago was a wonderful store called The Magic Toyshop , it was whispered the from time to time the toys might indeed have magical powers that sometimes, in the dark of night , they come to life.”
Lost and Found Percussion
This trio from Maryland comprised of N. Scott Robinson, Steve Bloom, and Blacksburg native Wes Crawford, bring their manic drumming show to Roanoke’s December 9th edition of “Dickens of a Christmas.” L&F Percussion perform entirely on household items and have designed a custom show to match the theme of the event.

Horsin’ Around – It’s back! The funniest Animal Act you’ve ever seen will once again be onstage at the SunTrust Dickens of a Christmas Celebration on Friday December 16th at 8:30pm at the end of Market Street. Hilarious Physical Comic Glenn Singer: aka El Gleno Grande has toured this show on 6 continents. Simultaneously portraying both horse and rider this fast paced performer has a conversational style that keeps you wondering when you’ll wind up being part of the show. Good hard belly laughs, fun for the whole family. Don’t miss El Gleno Grande! Appearing December 16.
Quest Academy of Music
This group brings the sound of a complete steel band orchestra to the Roanoke Valley with selections that include island favorites, rock and roll, and seasonal music. The program is co-directed by Richard and Delilah Rudolph. Appearing December 16th in the Market Building.
BrassMass Christmas
It’s a 100 plus regional brass musicians, young and old alike who have pooled their talents together to perform some of the best Christmas Music out there. Bring your best voice and participate with a fun sing-a-long. Performing on December 16th.
Carriage Ride Tickets
Tickets will be available for purchase each night of SunTrust Dickens of a Christmas at the ticket booth located near the carriage stop on Campbell Avenue. Carriage rides are $5.00. Children under 3 years of age ride free. TICKET SALES END AT 9:30PM each night. Cash or check accepted. No Credit Cards. Check should be made payable to Downtown Roanoke, Inc.
