Apples, Antique Tractors, and Pumpkins- Harvest Festival is Back
Downtown Roanoke, Inc. will kick off the fall season with the Harvest Festival presented by Haley Toyota on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. The event is free and will focus on locally grown produce and handmade crafts. The Harvest Festival will also feature live entertainment from Blue Moonshine, the Floyd Ward Cloggers, and the Jack Tale Players.
The Harvest Festival will include crafter demonstrations, pumpkin painting, face painting, and apple butter making. Antique tractors will line Market Street, making this a true homage to fall.
“The Harvest Festival is a great way to help celebrate the return of fall and to emphasize the variety and quality of our locally grown produce and handmade items,” said DRI President and CEO, Sean Luther.
Downtown Roanoke, Inc. is a tax-exempt member organization first chartered in 1960 to provide services and support to downtown property owners, businesses and residents. DRI provides services throughout the Downtown Service District under a contract with the City of Roanoke and also manages the Historic Roanoke City Market which is the oldest continuously-operating open air market in Virginia. DRI also presents a number of showcase events in downtown Roanoke including the Harvest Festival, and the SunTrust Dickens of a Christmas - a major holiday season street festival taking place each year on the first three Fridays of December.
