Downtown Roanoke, Inc. (DRI) announced the hiring of Price Gutshall as the Economic Development Specialist. He will be responsible for the continued advancement of DRI as an economic development partner in the Roanoke Valley.
Prior to joining DRI, Gutshall worked in various economic development and strategic planning-related roles as a marketing intern at the Roanoke Regional Partnership, an AmeriCorps* VISTA for the New England branch of Ashoka’s Youth Venture, and as a Fellow with Atlanta Beltline, Inc.
Gutshall earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Hampden-Sydney College and his master’s degree in city and regional planning with a focus on economic development and real estate from Cornell University. Gutshall is a Roanoke native and graduated from Patrick Henry High School.
“The hiring of Price Gutshall marks the first time in DRI’s 53 year history that we have committed a full time employee to economic development,” says Interim President Steve Musselwhite. “His addition will prove to be beneficial to all of DRI’s stakeholders and members, and we are extremely excited about the immediate impact he will have on our downtown.”
Downtown Roanoke, Inc. is a tax-exempt member organization first chartered in 1960 to provide services and support to downtown property owners, businesses and residents. DRI provides services throughout the Downtown Service District under a contract with the City of Roanoke and also manages the Historic Roanoke City Market, which is the oldest continuously-operating open air market in Virginia. DRI also presents a number of showcase events in downtown Roanoke including the Harvest Festival, and the SunTrust Dickens of a Christmas - a major holiday season street festival taking place each year on the first three Fridays of December.
