5 Points proudly presents Big Daddy Love w. Isaac Hadden Project on Friday, December 10. BDL will welcome their good friend Slate Lacy to the stage to perform a full set of Grateful Dead to close the night. Slate was featured during BDL's FloydFest "Dead Set" with his impeccable tone and Jerry-licks. Special guest and local guitarist John McBroom will also join in with the band.
If you can judge a band by its name, you’d probably guess that Big Daddy Love is not a gentle string quartet – and you’d be right. Their music has been described as “a blend of rock, bluegrass, southern soul, and psychedelic jams.” One reviewer characterized them as “a band with teeth” (fortunately in both a literal and metaphorical sense), and they’ve been known to describe themselves as “Appalachian Rock.” Genre descriptions aside, you’ll notice six guys who are comfortable playing bluegrass, reggae, blues, and everything in between.
Opener Isaac Hadden Project is a local supergroup featuring Dead Reckoning members Foster Burton, Jake Dempsey, Paul Tressel, and Matt Leonard.
