In a new series, "Collections Unpacked" invites you behind the scenes for an up-close look at objects from the Roanoke History and O. Winston Link Museum’s collections—going beyond the archival boxes to experience artifacts not typically on public view.

For this first program, be among the first to see ten recently donated objects in their public debut. Executive Director & Curator Ashley Webb will share the stories behind these new additions, how they came into the collection, and what they reveal about the region’s history.

Through this curator-led experience, you’ll gain insight into how museums care for, document, and preserve collections, and how these objects help tell and safeguard Roanoke’s evolving story.

The next "Collections Unpacked" will take place Thursday, July 9 (5:30–6:30 pm) and will explore the theme Revolutionary Relics.

Interested in preserving your own history? Join us in June for the launch of a new series, Preserving Your Past, designed to teach practical techniques for caring for your family photographs, heirlooms, and personal archives. The first session will focus on preserving family photographs. This more in-depth series will offer a hands-on learning experience; additional details on cost and registration coming soon.
