Join the Roanoke Public Library Foundation for a reception to celebrate the digital launch of the David Ramey Collection.

David Ramey was a local Roanoke artist whose art and writings capture his memories of Roanoke’s thriving Black communities of Gainsboro and Northeast from the mid-1940s through the late 1960s. The Roanoke Public Libraries’ new digital collection features more than 500 of his illustrations and over 100 accompanying stories, preserving the spirit of these neighborhoods before they were reshaped by urban renewal.
