How many people can skate at Elmwood on Ice?
Elmwood on Ice has space for 75-100 skaters at one time and measures 65 feet x 60 feet.
What size skates are available for rental?
Skate sizes available: Sizes start at Youth 9 and go through Adult 14. Figure skates available up to size 11. Hockey skates available Adult size 8-14. Skate sizes will not always match shoe sizes. Our employees will help you identify a size that’s right for you.
Can I bring my own skates?
Yes! Bring your own skates and pay just $10 admission.
Are there age restrictions for small children?
There are no restrictions regarding age. Children range in abilities. You should judge for yourself your own child’s ability.
If my child cannot skate, can I get a refund?
No, unfortunately, there is no way to identify or differentiate.
My child would like to skate, but I can’t. Can I go on the ice with him/her?
No one is allowed on the ice without wearing skates.
Will there be bathrooms on-site?
Yes, bathrooms will be available. Skaters will need to remove skates before going to the restroom.
Will there be places to sit?
Yes, we’ll have seating available for non-skaters to watch all the fun.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Downtown Roanoke Gift Cards.
Are gift certificates available for purchase?
Yes, if you'd like to give the gift of skating, you can purchase gift certificates at Elmwood on Ice Skate Shed during operating hours. Gift certificates are $12 and include skate admission and skate rental.
What should I wear to Elmwood on Ice?
The ice rink is outdoors so you should plan to dress warm enough to sustain being outside in the daily conditions. Socks, gloves, and hats are recommended regardless of the conditions.
What if I get injured?
Let the ice rink staff know immediately so that they can file an incident report. When you skate at Elmwood on Ice, you accept a posted waiver and assume certain risks.
