Top Tips to Make the Most of Attending

Plan your Parking in Advance

Did you know that between street parking and lots and garages, downtown has 9,000 parking spaces? Some lots even offer free nights/weekends.

We recommend PARK Roanoke lots and garages because they usually have lower rates than privately owned parking. Current rate for City-owned parking is $1 per half hour with a daily maximum of $8. Click here to view all of the available parking in Downtown.

Free Parking

Market Lot offers FREE Parking on Saturday before 4pm ($3 after 4pm). Elmwood Lot and Elmwood Garage offer FREE parking all weekend.

Save Time for the Farmer's Market

The Historic Roanoke City Market is the oldest continuously operating open-air market in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It's open 7 days a week, but the busiest day is Saturday.

This means Market Street will be packed with produce, plants, and arts & crafts vendors who all hand-make or locally grow their products from 8am until 2pm. The farmer's market is a wonderful opportunity to fill your shopping bags and show local vendors support.

Pick up a Passport

We’re excited to add some fun to the Sidewalk Sale with a new passport element.

Start your adventure in Market Square, where you’ll pick up your passport. Then, explore participating stores to collect stamps along the way—no purchase necessary! Each time you visit a participating store, you’ll receive a stamp. Once your passport is complete, return to Market Square to submit it by 5pm for a chance to win a gift basket with downtown items from businesses like La De Da, Roanoke Co-op, and The Little Gallery.

It's a fun, simple way to explore retailers downtown.
