If you’ve been downtown for it before, it'll likely be no surprise to find out that Halloween is one of the busiest weekends downtown all year. To help you streamline your planning, we’ve pulled together a list of options so you can make the most of this frightful weekend. There’s also a special section for your little ghouls and goblins. Get those costumes ready!
For the Adults
Friday, October 28

- K92 Boo Bash at Awful Arthur's - 8:00pm - midnight - The annual Boo Bash returns with a costume contest ($1,200 cash up for grabs!), drink specials, dancing, and more.
- Halloweekend at Corned Beef (Friday & Saturday) - Come down for the Halloween line dancing, music, and drink specials on Friday. Come back for a costume contest with prizes on Saturday.
- Halloween Disco at Golden Cactus Brewing - 9pm - midnight - This collaboration from Golden Cactus Brewing, Food Hut RKE, and Gatewood Rose brings Disco vibes and, apparently, a giant disco ball. Plan comfortable shoes and a fun costume for this late night dance party.
- Halloween Hoedown at Sidewinders - This event will cover 2 floors for 1 big party. It’ll feature a Halloween Costume Contest with cash prizes, live music, DJ, and more.
Saturday, October 29
- Dead Reckoning Halloween at 5 Points Music Sanctuary - 5:30pm - The Dead Reckoning perform at 5 Points for their Halloween festivities. Prizes will be awarded in the “Super Weird Heroes” themed costume contest.

- Halloween Party at Big Lick Brewing - 5:00pm - 10:00pm - This Halloween Party features a costume contest with prizes for the winners. They’ll also have live music from Chad Nickell & The Loose Change and free Halloween candy (while it lasts).
- Fork-O-Ween at Fork in the Market - 8:00pm - 1:00am - Fork in the Market's annual Halloween Block Party has returned. Head to this street party for live music, a costume content, and Silent Disco.
- Halloween Bash at The Front Row - 7:00pm - More details to come for this Halloween Bash but we do know they have live music.
- SalsaWeen Party at Leonore - 9:30pm - 1:30am - This Salsa themed Halloween party features a costume contest, dance lessons, and more.
- Halloween Street Party at Martin’s - 8:00pm – 2:00am - This Halloween Street Party brings 3 bands to Martin’s outdoor stage – Kentucky Ruckus, Disco Risque, and Soul Patch. Admission is $10 at the gate.
- Hellfire Halloween at The Spot on Kirk - 7:30pm - Maiden and Crow Tattoo is hosting this “Stranger Things” themed event at The Spot on Kirk. Check out the live music and participate in the 80’s costume contest.
Sunday, October 30
- Halloween Murder Mystery at Well Hung - 6:00pm – 9:00pm - This Murder Mystery is likely to sell out soon so don’t wait if you want to get in on the Whodunnit action. You’ll be assigned a character at this interactive event and work to solve the mystery. Murder Mystery tickets are $30 per person with food/beverage bundles also available.
For the Kids

Friday, October 28
- Trunk or Treat at Kirk Family YMCA – 5:30pm – 7:30pm - Bring the kids to Kirk Family YMCA for some fun trick or treating. This event is open to everyone, not just members. Costumes encouraged.
- Trick or Treat with the Parakeets at the Science Museum of Western Virginia (through October 30!) - Head to the Science Museum to Trick or Treat at their new Parakeet Garden. Give some treats to the birds and get treats for yourself too. Dress up in your best bird costume from October 25 – 30 and get 50% off admission to the Parakeet Garden.
Saturday, October 29
- Macaroni Kid’s Candy Crawl in Downtown Roanoke - 10:00am – 12:00pm - Put on your costumes and head downtown for the 3rd Annual Downtown Candy Crawl. Participating downtown businesses will be handing out candy. Make sure to register in advance so you’ll receive the map with participating treat locations.

- Ghost Hunt: Find Casper & Friends at Crafteria - 10:00am - 2:00pm - Take the kids on a hunt to find Casper, Wendy, and the Ghostly Trio at Crafteria. If you find them all, you're in for a spooky surprise.
- Pumpkin Carving at Crescent City – 12:00pm – 4:00pm - Finish up your Candy Crawl and head over to Crescent City Bourbon & BBQ for some family friendly pumpkin carving and a bite to eat. Purchase your tickets in advance or on the spot for $10 (includes a pumpkin and the supplies you’ll need).
- Candy Corn Express at the Virginia Museum Transportation – 10:00am – 4:00pm - Head to the VMT for their annual Candy Corn Express. The event features candy (of course), games, face painting, vendors, and more. Museum tickets are required for guests over the age of 3.
Sunday, October 30
- Halloween Goodie Bags at Kids Square - Members and paid guests who show up in costume will get a free Halloween Goodie Bag.
