If you’ve been downtown for it before, it'll likely be no surprise to find out that Halloween is one of the busiest weekends downtown all year. To help you streamline your planning, we’ve pulled together a list of options so you can make the most of this frightful weekend. There’s also a special section for your little ghouls and goblins. Get those costumes ready!
For the Adults

Friday, October 27
- K92 Boo Bash at Awful Arthur's - 8:00pm - midnight - The annual Boo Bash returns with a costume contest ($1,200 cash up for grabs!), drink specials, dancing, and more.
Saturday, October 28
- Nightmare on Salem Avenue at Big Lick Brewing Co. - 5pm – 10pm - Dress up in your best Halloween costume and you just might win a prize! Get in the spirit with "witches brew," candy, and live music by Jaded Ravens and the Jared Stout Band.
- Dead Reckoning Halloween at 5 Points Music Sanctuary - 6:30pm - The Dead Reckoning perform at 5 Points for their Halloween festivities. Prizes will be awarded in the “Cryptid” themed costume contest.
- Dracula at the Jefferson Center - 2:00pm & 7:00pm - Roanoke Ballet Theatre's October favorite is hitting the stage for another year. Follow the classic characters, Lucy, Mina, Jonathan, and Van Helsing as they try to avoid the wrath of Dracula and his vampire brides.
- Halloween Street Party at Martin’s - 8:00pm – 2:00am - This Halloween Street Party brings 3 bands to Martin’s 2 stages – Dr.Bacon, The Kind Thieves, and Soul Patch. Pre-sale tickets are available for $15.
- Halloween Party at Sidewinders - 5:30pm – 2:00am - Grab your costumes and head to Sidewinders for a huge party, live music, a DJ, and a costume contest with big cash prizes.
- Halloween Invasion at Golden Cactus Brewing - 10:00pm – 2:00am - This alien masquerade party is perfect for beer lovers with out of this world dance moves. Tickets are available now for $10.
- Halloween Party at Corned Beef & Co. - 10:00pm – 2:00am - Prepare for an evening with Spooktacular drink specials and an exciting costume contest.
- Spooky Skelebration at 202 Social House - Enjoy Halloween drinks, spooky DJ sets, and a Roaring 20's themed costume contest in the Speakeasy (Curiosity).
- Dark Tales from the Star City at Book No Further - 1:00pm – 3:00pm - Join three of the area's local authors as they read from their creepiest works.
- Fork-O-Ween at Fork in the Market - 8:00pm - Take to the streets for a lively block party, complete with a spooky silent disco.
Sunday, October 29
- The Country Creep Show at The Spot on Kirk - 7:30pm – 10pm - is a spooky event featuring songs from infamous country murder ballads, to heartbreak gone wrong, ghost songs, devil made me do it, etc. This show is sure to give ya the creeps!
For the Kids

Friday, October 27
- Spooky Hat Spectacular at O. Winston Link History Museum - 10:00am – 11:00am - Your little ones can dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and become part of the spooky hat story through a themed story time. They'll even get to create their very own spooky hats!
- Trick or Treat with the Parakeets at the Science Museum of Western Virginia (through October 31!) - Head to the Science Museum to Trick or Treat at the Parakeet Garden. Give some treats to the birds and get treats for yourself too. Dress up in your best bird costume from October 3 – 31 and get 50% off admission to the Parakeet Garden.

Saturday, October 28
- Macaroni Kid’s Candy Crawl in Downtown Roanoke - 10:00am – 12:00pm - Put on your costumes and head downtown for the 4th Annual Downtown Candy Crawl. Participating downtown businesses will be handing out candy. Make sure to register in advance so you’ll receive the map with participating treat locations.
- Monster Motor Mash at the Virginia Museum of Transportation - 10am – 4pm - Head to the VMT for their annual Halloween celebration. The event features candy (of course), a costume contest, games, face painting, and more. Museum tickets are required for guests over the age of 3.
- Trunk-or-Treat at Starbucks at the Bridges - 4:00pm – 6:00pm - Bridges Starbucks has tons of excitement in store. Trunk or treat will have games, crafts, a costume contest, drink samples, and (of course) candy. Grab a treat for yourself and your little one.
